Haruka Nakamura (composer) is a Japanese musician and composer who lives in Tokyo. He is a composer, producer, pianist, and guitarist (stylized as haruka nakamura). Throughout his career, Nakamura has collaborated with artists including Nujabes, Aimer, and Ichiko Aoba. He began his professional music career by uploading music to MySpace and is now signed to the Singaporean label 'KITCHEN. LABEL'. His composition work extends to brands like The North Face, and television and anime productions including Hikikomori Sensei, Trigun Stampede, and the Look Back film adaptation.
Nakamura was born in Aomori Prefecture in 1982. He started piano at age 5 and learned guitar during middle school. Beginning in 2006, he uploaded music to MySpace.
His debut studio album, Grace, was released in 2008. His musical style ranges from downtempo electronica and jazz hip-hop to post-classical chamber music featuring guitars, pianos, vocals, and percussion. Notable works include appearances on Modal Soul Classics II (2010), Spiritual State (2011), and Melodica (2013).
In 2014, he launched the haruka nakamura PIANO ENSEMBLE project with 音楽のある風景 (Landscape with Music), performing live concerts culminating at St. Mary's Cathedral, Tokyo. In 2017, he arranged and played piano on "Liberoara" from The Ancient Magus' Bride soundtrack.
In 2021, working from "studio camel house" in Kōfu, Yamanashi Prefecture with collaborators Gen Tanabe and orbe, he composed for the NHK drama Hikikomori Sensei.
In 2023, he collaborated with Salyu on the opening theme for Trigun Stampede. He also composed the score and theme song for the 2024 anime film adaptation of Tatsuki Fujimoto's manga Look Back.
